Opinions and suggestions on the most practical prams to buy.

Across our platform of online mum groups, members regularly ask each other for advice and suggestions on a range of topics.

One question that we see every single week, asks for pram/stroller recommendations.

Requirements are usually:

Easy to put up/down
A higher seat so you don't have to bend down as much (especially if you've had a c-section)
Suitable for toddler use

We have quite literally, read hundreds of recommendations, but these 9 strollers are repeatedly mentioned and are LOVED by everyone who has one.

1. Baby Jogger: City Mini

"My suggestion would be get a capsule that can attach to the pram that way u don’t have to wake them getting in or out of the car and you can always put them in this a bit before you have to leave for school drop off if they need a sleep. I have the Britax capsule up to 12 month and the City Mini by Baby Jogger. The two things I love about it are one movement to open and close, and the other is the capsule brackets can stay on the pram all the time. The sunshades cover is also really great."

"Very light and has a one hand collapse and the break is up near the push bar so there is no fiddling. I love mine and highly recommend. I also use my Ergo baby carrier when I’m just doing quick trips here and there."

"Agree 100% with all of that."

"Hi! I have a baby jogger city mini zip, weighs 7kgs and folds up into a compact size, can stash into a backpack. Used from birth to now."

"Baby jogger City Mini or City Mini GT so easy to collapse can do it with one hand while holding the baby. I bring my carrier along and carry my baby when the toddler has a turn in the pram."

"Baby jogger city mini ! It’s the best ! You can get scooter attachments for toddlers too."

"Second this pram after wasting so much money looking for one for bubs this was a keeper!!!"

" I've got the baby jogger city tour. It lies back, is very compact, very easy to fold and is apparently small enough to fit in overhead compartment on plane."

"We have loved our baby jogger mini city GT, it's not as small as the city tour but I can still lift it one handed to fold it!"

"Baby Jogger City Mini. Have a 15month old and it's been awesome, we also had the bassinet attachment to start. Lightweight and one handed fold. Negative is small storage space - I got around that by only taking a nappy purse/mat that fit wipes, a couple of nappies and a change of clothes and on most outings I leave the big 'everything but the kitchen sink' bag in the car."

2. Valco Baby: Snap Ultra

I had major spinal surgery 12 months before giving birth and a C Section. I was able to lift this pram 3 weeks after my C Section. One of the lightest prams on the market, folds down with a few simple buttons and can be pulled up with one hand whilst holding bub. Folds down in a single piece or can be separated if you need for boot space. I own a subaru Forrester, Best part is it was under $500 & such great quality."%%

"I second this pram!"

"Valco snap 4 is very lightweight and easy to fold/unfold. Suitable for newborn up to 20kg. You can attach capsules to it also. Get one with an adjustable footrest (snap 4 tailormade or snap 4 lx) to keep newborn snug and comfy. I have the of these and a double. They are the best and so easy to steer and lift. Ultra version is handy as bub can face you, but doesn't fold as well. Downside for you is seat is not high up – just standard height. Good luck with your search."

"I have a Valco Snap 4 and find it great, super light weight, easy to steer and compact- easily fits in my Mazda 3 with heaps of room spare for shopping."

"Valco snap 4. It is light to carry and fold. 4 positions (inclinations) and rear and forward. Good price."

"Valco ultra snap tailor made. (it's a mouthful!). Very light, can go both ways, and can be folded in one or two pieces."

"Valco baby snap ultra is only 8kgs, has a canopy that goes all the way down, a huuuge basket, folds down easily and really small, and comes in awesome denim fabrics."

"We originally bought this as our travel pram because it is small enough for carry on, but now I use it nearly everyday. Very light weight and can be unfolded with one hand which is needed sometimes with my little one 😜 another positive is it reclines a bit too, so it’s comfortable for children to have a sleep."

"I love our YOYO but have never used the newborn insert, just the 6mos seat. It is easy to use and fantastic if you travel. It is very light and takes up very little room in the car. We bought it because we are constantly on planes, but find that it is so much more practical than our big stroller and tend to use that one even if we are not traveling. They now have converters to clip in a newborn capsule too. I highly recommend it if you want a small easy to use stroller."

"I love my baby zen YoYo. So easy and best thing is for airplanes it can i the cabin up above. It is our go to pram even over our baby jogger."

"Babyzen YoYo. Had it for 2yrs now and been on multiple overseas trips as well as fly domestically every 6-8 weeks with it. Always allowed on board with it in overhead cabin bay. I had a back operation just after I bought it and have no issues with it as its light and quick and easy to use. Rain cover is also great. Highly recommend."

4. gb QBIT

"Easy to fold and unfold, you can do it just with one hand. Very light as well. The price is pretty reasonable. I think you can get it for around $300 when they go on sale. Fits from newborn to 17kgs. The only downside for you will be it's low, so you do need to bend to put the baby in and out of the pram."

"I have a GB Qbit stroller and it is the lightest most compact stroller I have come across. It is suitable from newborn to 15kg and the stroller itself weighs only 4.5kg. So easy to pack away and unpack (you can do it one handed while holding the bubs in the other hand) and I can’t recommend it enough. I have it in black but it comes in few colours."

"I love my GB Qbit stroller. It's so compact and light it would be perfect for travelling. It is suitable from newborn to toddler."

5. Mountain Buggy Nano Travel Pram

"Can take a capsule. Folds down to nothing and weighs 5kg."

" I have the nano. It's not great off road but most strollers aren't! And it can handle the school oval which is enough for me 😂 it's very compact, but the seat size is great."

"We have the Mountain Buggy Nano - it's great. It reclines nearly flat and my daughter did short naps in it under 1 no problem. It doesn't parent face but that hasn't seemed to be a problem."

6. Redsbaby JIVE²

" We have a Redsbaby Jive and it is seriously the best pram ever."

" Agree, we love our redsbaby Jive too! Used it from newborn to now (almost 2years) with my son and will get the adapter for a second when we have our second baby in May. Looks super stylish, really practical, lightweight and not super expensive."

"Yep, another vote for Redsbaby Jive here. And they've just released the updated model that's even better! Lots of improvements!"

7. Mammas & Pappas Armadillo Flip

"Love my Mamma and papas armadillo flip, one hand fold, you can lie flat, forward or reverse facing, one or 2 pieces fold. light weight, big hood and basket, you can also attach capsule on it too."

" I swear by my mama and papa sola stroller. I got it second hand for $100. So light, reversible, even comes with parasol attachments, folds up compact and easy to manouver with one hand even fingers!"

8. Bugaboo Bee

"I love my Bugaboo Bee. It folds flat and doesn’t take up too much space in the car, and you don’t have to remove the seat before collapsing the pram as it all folds down in one piece. The Bee allows your baby to either face you or the world, and it’s really easy to change the way the seat is facing. It also drives really well (you can almost push the pram with two fingers while carrying a squirming baby in the other arm)."

"We had the Bugaboo Bee which was great for when we lived in the city in Asia as we were mostly in malls & shops & it can fit easily anywhere. With 2nd we got a baby jogger city mini second hand. Really love it, especially the one-handed fold. So easy for juggling bubba & my 4 y o."

"The bugaboo bee is awesome, compact, you can customize the colours, you can put it around multiple ways, really easy to use. Seems tiny compared to most massive prams yet is really roomy and drives very smoothly. I catch busses and trains a lot and it's perfect for public transport. Also will become a stroller later on."

"Bugaboo Bee. Hands down, the best. Light weight, fabulous suspension, easy fold and endlessly chic with all the hoods and accessories available. Worth every cent."

"I had the Bugaboo Bee too, it was amazing. Four years and it still handled so well. It was easy to fold. I used it with the car seat at first as we didn't have a car. I changed the hood once because after two years I wanted a change in colour no other reason. I love I could do that."

9. UPPAbaby Vista

"I have Uppababy Alta and it has been great, still using with me 19 month old. Reclines flat and has newborn insert so bassinet isn’t needed. Easy to fold (folds in one piece), not too heavy and and can have the seat facing you or away from you."

"I’d highly recommend the UppaBaby as well, I absolutely love ours, it’s lighter than a lot of the others, can face you or outwards, can fold down in one piece, can be taken on planes, big basket underneath for nappy bag and shopping."
