Fun Motherhood Lists (34)      Gifts (7)      Birthdays (4)
Looking for some inspiration on what to get your toddler for their next birthday? This list will give you plenty of ideas for this year and Christmas, too!

It can be difficult to know what to buy for a present for toddlers - unlike older children they usually don't know what they want, and there are lots of things that aren't age appropriate for kids under 3.

A really great gift is something that can be used over and over again, and not languish in the corner. Ideally it will be either educational or excellent for their development, plus bring a massive smile to their face when they open it!

From budget conscious items, to more elaborate gifts, here are some popular suggestions for both boys and girls who aged between 1 and 3 years old:

I subscribe to the idea that you can never have too many books. These ones are all excellent for reading over and over again:

Where is the Green Sheep by Mem Fox
One Woolly Wombat by Kerry Argent
Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox
Hooray for Fish! by Lucy Cousins
Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy by Lynley Dodd
The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland
I'm a Dirty Dinosaur by Janeen Brian
Wombat Stew by Marcia K. Vaughan
Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney
The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey

Depending on your child's age or ability, there will be something they can use to help them with building their coordination.

Smart Trike
Balance Bike
Good old fashioned bike with training wheels

Whether your backyard is big or small, there are so many outdoor toys to make going outside a more inviting place. Some of these fit nicely on a balcony too (in case you live in a unit)

Toy lawn mower or whipper snipper
Cubby house
Playset (swings, slide, climbing etc)
Water/sand play table

Kitchens with wooden accessories (the wooden ones from Aldi, Ikea or Kmart come highly recommended)
Wooden toy sets of food or appliances
Train set / table
Doctor/Vet kit
Doll with pram/cot
Animal farms
Dress up clothes
Trucks and construction vehicles
Activity cubes/board
Easel and art pad

If you prefer to give a non-toy gift, here are some places kids of this age love to visit:

- Annual theme park passes
- Annual zoo pass
- Farm stay
- Movie vouchers

Do you have any other great gift ideas for toddlers? Please let us know in the comments below, we would love to hear from you!
