Opinions on two extremely popular brands.

Across our platform of online mum groups, members regularly ask each other for advice and suggestions on a range of topics.

One that we often see is members looking for breast pump recommendations.

After trawling through all your suggestions, there were two brands that dominated every discussion, which everyone seems to love!

1. Spectra

Spectra breast pumps have innovative features like closed system, double pumping, quiet motor, gentle pump action and amazing performance.

Here are just a few of your comments:

"Can’t recommend a Spectra enough! They’re wonderfully made and they’re closed system, so you can feel comfortable about selling them when you’re done or even buying them second hand and using them for multiple births."

"I bought it brand new and loved it. It’s a hospital grade double breast pump and can also be used as a single."

"I have the Spectra 9 and it's great. Strong, light, and a double pump if needed."

"Spectra for sure. I had 3 different lactation consultants recommend it."

"I have a Spectra S9 double pump. It's small and portable, so it's great if you eventually have to go back to work."

" Spectra all the way! The S2 is awesome at home, or the S9 if you need to be portable."

"Spectra is by far the best I’ve ever used!"

2. Medela

Medela’s range of breast pumps covers all the potential needs of breastfeeding mums: from initiating breastfeeding for a prematurely born baby, expressing milk to cover the odd night out, or to exclusively breast pump.

Here are just a few of your comments:

"I have the Medela Swing Pump. Works really well and nice and portable."

"Medela Swing Breast Pump for sure! Worth the money."

"Medela Double Swing works a treat – worth every penny!"

"Medela Symphony. I hired it untill I knew if it was worth buying. Yes, yes it is."

"I love my Medela Freestyle, it tells you exactly how long you've been expressing for, which is the absolute BEST! As with all the things going on, you will forget the time very often. Love love love."

"Medela Swing – I've used it for both bubs and it's easy to get parts!"
