Top 10 essentials!

I remember packing, unpacking and repacking my hospital bag at least three times before I went into labour.

If Iím honest, I didnít need half of it so I thought I would share my wisdom and below are my top 10 baby essentials for your hospital bag:

For the ultimate Hospital Maternity Bag for mum too, read here.

1. Muslins (at least 2)

Itís never too early to start using muslins. You will quickly realise they come in handy for almost everything from wiping up sick to covering your modesty when breast feeding.

2. Dummy

If you havenít yet decided whether or not you will give your baby a dummy, or even if you have decided you wonít, itís always worth having one in your bag just incase you change your mind.

3. Sleepsuit

I packed 3 sleepsuits: one to sleep In, one to be sick on and an extra one just incase you stay there for an extra night.

4. Hat

Depending on the time of year, you are encouraged by the midwives to put a hat on your baby as soon as they are born.

5. Blanket

You will be provided with a hospital blanket for your baby, but there is nothing better than your own freshly washed blanket for your newborn baby.

6. Nappies

I took 12 nappies and found that this was more than enough.

7. Wipes

These are for mum as well as baby.

8. Going home outfit

Donít forget to pack that all important going home outfit for baby. Take into consideration the time of year and remember your baby will more than likely be leaving the hospital in a car seat so make sure they are comfortable.

9. Babygro

As with the sleepsuits, I packed 3 for the same reasons as above.

10. Scratch mits

Babies will inevitably scratch their face so make sure you have a pair if not 2 pairs.
